Since the early days of mankind’s existence, animals have been used to benefit humans. From being used for farming and traveling to provide a source of food, animals have helped humans survive. And studies have also discovered that animals can, and do help human health and well being. But on the “flip side,” humans have also mistreated animals and used them to test potentially harmful products before putting them on shelves for human consumption.
But there are organizations such as PETA that battle these things. Rightfully so, we must also learn that there can be extreme patterns on both sides of this equation. We know that animals shouldn’t be tortured or harmed, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t need them for our survival needs.
It is a “fine line” and if all humans look deep inside, they should be able to draw the line.
As with all of nature, survival and the ways of nature show us that animals have been provided for human betterment. And in today’s post, we are going to share 11 ways animals can help the health and well being of humans.
Animals Can Help #1: Insulin
Diabetes is an issue affecting much of the world’s population. While the human pancreas is supposed to create insulin, in some cases it does not. And what it does create, many times it’s sufficient enough.
People with diabetes that requires more insulin must use a prescribed insulin that they draw into a syringe and then inject into their body. But many people have no idea where that insulin comes from…
For many years, the insulin used to treat human diabetics came from either pigs or cows. Today, technology has allowed scientists to be able to make a biosynthetic insulin by using bacteria or yeast cells. But there is always porcine or bovine insulin available “just in case.”
Animals Can Help #2: More Physical Activity
Having a pet, especially a dog, allows the owner to get up and get out more. That pet needs exercise, so he becomes a training coach for you. If he needs to walk, then that means you must walk too.
No matter what, a pet will help you get more exercise.
Animals Can Help #3: Autistic Children
Autism can be a difficulty with children in making friends as well as knowing when they are in a dangerous position. Having a service dog has helped shown in many children great improvements with social and verbal skills, as well as their emotional state. And these service dogs can be trained to ensure the child’s safety.
Animals Can Help #4: Stress Management
Scientific studies have found that just the simple act of petting an animal actually lowers a human’s blood pressure. It helps relieves your stress and also relieves any stress your pet may have too.
So this means having a dog or cat as your pet will help you have a healthier heart.
Animals Can Help #5: Social Engagement
In these days and times, people are often apprehensive in talking with a perfect stranger. But when you have that person with a pet dog or other furry creature, it seems apprehension flies away. Humans have a tendency to immediately notice those small lovable animals and will often strike up a conversation whereas they would not have if the animal wasn’t present.
How is this good for health and well being? Humans need social interaction for their mental health. If we were to be stranded on an island with no social interaction, after just a short period of time, we would become mentally and emotionally unstable.
Animals Can Help #6: Pain, Anxiety, and Depression
Trained animals can be some of the best therapists for people who are suffering. This is because that animal is with the person 24/7, does not judge and offers no advice. That animal is simply a companion. People who are suffering from
- cancer treatments
- physical therapy
- or other ailments
have shown dramatic positive results when they have a trained therapy animal.
Animals Can Help #7: Heart Surgery
It seems unreal, but human organs and pig organs are quite similar. Just as I said that pig insulin can be used in humans, when a person needs new valves in their heart, they can also have them replaced from a pigs heart.
Animals Can Help #8: Music
No matter what anyone may say, music is good for our well being. It helps us to relax and animals have helped with music creation.
There are various animal products used in musical instruments, but the most well known in my opinion is catgut. Catgut is used to make highly durable strings for violins, violas and upright bass.
Before you start screaming feline lovers, don’t worry! Manufacturers of these instruments are not killing furry cats to make strings. Catgut is actually made from the intestines of sheep, goats and other animals, but not cats.
Animals Can Help #9: Education
It has also been shown that children with pets normally do better in school than those without. One of the main reasons experts believe this is so, is because a child is able to build their confidence which will allow the child to talk with, read to and much more.
It can be amazing how children have done in classes they were failing and immediately after they get a pet, their grades tend to rise.
Animals Can Help #10: Baby Immunity Boost
It has been discovered that babies who are raised in a home with pets or on a farm with various animals near them, do have stronger immune systems than those who are pet free. Some scientists believe that babies who are in direct contact with pets and various animals are less likely to develop allergies and/or asthma.
If a person really considers this, it makes complete sense. Our immune systems are intricate and amazing. A baby’s immune system is in the “learning stage,” and when it comes into contact with animals, it automatically defends against pet hair and other things that the animal could give the child. Once that immunity is developed, it stays with that person for life generally, unless another serious disease breaks it down.
Animals Can Help #11: Omega 3’s
Fish and seafood provide us with nutrition we need. Called Omega’s, we can get some from plants, but the largest amount of nutritional Omega’s come via fish and other seafood.
Omega’s have many benefits to humans…
- Improved mental functions
- Helps the health of our hearts
- And some even believe they decrease the risks of cancer.
Many Other Products Owe Their Creation To Animals
You may truly be surprised some of the products used by humans daily that have animal items in them and people have no clue…
- Nail polish with crushed fish bones
- Some perfumes have animal scents
- Paintbrushes that use animal hair
- Animal fat is often used in hair care products
Animal portions can be in nearly any consumer product… water filters, insulation, rubber, antifreeze, plastics, floor waxes, crayons, chalk, adhesives, lubricants, candles, soaps, lipsticks, shaving creams, and other cosmetics.
Let’s Talk About A Product The iGalen Team Is Developing
It is called Ovinex™. As humans age, they lose a common protein that our systems carry called collagen. But we can replace that collagen from other warm-blooded animals. But where there can be issues is in cultural and religious areas.
But, there is one animal that manufactures collagen that can help humans and still be free of all the religious and cultural issues…
We are using sheep that are free of any disease as certified by the USDA. These sheep are raised in Australia and Ovinex will also be ‘Halal” certified.
It is great that we protect animals from being needlessly tortured and tested on. But when we do use animals for food, we should use as much of that animal as possible. No matter your culture or religion, you can get healthier with the help of animals.
And we want to invite you to help “spread the word” about Ovinex™ and other iGalen products. Our mission is to create a healthier world and the products we now have, Emulin and KlaMax, as well as products under development, all reflect that mission. And you can be part of that mission too and make money doing so.

We look forward to working with you to help the world become happier and healthier.
