A recent report released by the World Cancer Research Fund has linked many types of cancer with obesity. These cancers are:
- as well as, pharynx and larynx.
And while there is no absolute, experts do agree that reducing your weight can decrease the chances of cancer creeping in. That would include exercise, cutting down on fast foods as well as lowering your intake of other highly processed food.
And again, while there are no absolute facts, many of those experts also believe that there are certain foods that will fight cancer.
I am going to share with you 15 foods that are attributed to fighting cancer.
Cancer Fighting Food #1: Apples
The old line about an apple a day keeps the Doctor away should be changed to “can keep cancer at bay.”
But you need to pick your apples wisely. It seems that Granny Smith and Red Delicious apples have more cancer fighters than do Golden Delicious or Fuji apples.
Keep that in mind the next time you are apple shopping.
Cancer Fighting Food #2: Green, Leafy Vegetables
They are high in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants. The ingredients that are known to fight cancer… Vitamin C & A (Beta Carotene) are prevalent in the green, leafy vegetables like:
Plus, these vegetables are low in calories and other toxins.
Isothiocyanates found in leafy greens, which are made from glucosinolates, have been reported to help detox your body at the cellular level. And cancer starts at a cellular level, so these can destroy it before it starts.
Cancer Fighting Food #3: Green Tea
Green tea is full of polyphenols that reduce the growth of blood vessels that supply cancer cells.
And EGCG in green tea will activate enzymes that encourage the death of cancer cells.

It is said that you should drink at least 2 cups per day within 1 hour of brewing it. If you wait longer, it loses many of the cancer-fighting properties.

Folate is the B9 vitamin. Scientists believe that when the human body is under the optimal levels of Folate, the chances for mutations in the DNA string are more likely. It is DNA mutations that can turn into cancer.
So, tests were administered with over 25,000 male smokers. Those who consumed the recommended amount of Folate daily had their pancreatic cancer risks cut in half.
So, it is evident that Folate plays a significant role.
There are many places and foods you can get Folate:
- Orange juice
- Many kinds of cereals
- Spinach leaves
- Romaine leaves
- Brussels sprouts

Cancer Fighting Food #6: San Marzano
Tomatoes hold many nutrients our bodies need, but when it comes to fighting cancer, the San Marzano variety of tomato has the greatest amount of cancer-fighting ingredients.
The San Marzano tomato is considered a plum tomato. It has the shape and looks similar to a Jalapeno pepper.
Cancer Fighting Food #7: Cruciferous Vegetables
The vegetables that fall in this area include:
- brussels sprouts
These vegetables are high in Vitamin C and full of glutathione which is a super antioxidant.
The cruciferous vegetables are believed to be great defenders against getting cancer, so go on and eat that broccoli.
Cancer Fighting Food #8: Pomegranates – Both Whole And Juice
The pomegranate juice tastes wonderful and has been used in ancient medicine.
And research has determined that drinking pomegranate juice daily reduces the chances of prostate cancer dramatically and for those who already have it, this great juice slows the spreading of prostate cancer by 50%.
Cancer Fighting Food #9: Grapes
Grapes have many cancer-fighting ingredients. But studies have shown that the grapes that are grown in cooler climates have more cancer fighters than the ones grown in warm areas.
It is also recommended that you search for fully organic grapes.
Pesticides are used on so many grapes, and those grapes could give cancer instead of fighting cancer.
Cancer Fighting Food #10: All Berries
If it has berry behind it, it has cancer-fighting properties. All berries are loaded with antioxidants. So, they have anti-aging properties and lower damages from free radicals.
The value from berries is tremendous, and they have been used in medicines all around the world.

Cancer Fighting Food #11: Ginger
Ginger is an ultra-powerful anti-inflammatory that fights certain cancer cells and slows the growth of tumors.
There are many ways to ingest ginger, which is a root. Many people drink ginger tea, but another great way to ingest it is by grating fresh ginger and adding it to your salad.
Cancer Fighting Food #12: Shark Cartilage Extract
It seems that sharks are immune to cancer. So, it just makes sense that the cartilage has strong anti-angiogenic properties. Some tests have shown positive results in humans who ingest shark cartilage extract.

Cancer Fighting Food #13: Dunk It
No matter the variety of tea you drink, studies have shown that you will release more cancer fighters if you raise your tea bag up and down in the hot water. It doesn’t release as many of the good, cancer-fighting “stuff” if you just let the bag sit in the water.
So, dunk it and fight that cancer.
Cancer Fighting Food #14: Add Those Herbs And Spices
Many of the herbs and spices Mother Nature provides us are natural cancer fighters. I mentioned ginger earlier, but some other ones you should consider adding to dishes are:
- Black pepper
- Cayenne pepper
Cancer Fighting Food #15: Fish
The Omega 3s found in fish are believed to slow cancer cell growth. But you want to get fish that are not loaded with toxins from the environment. It is recommended that smaller fish like anchovies and sardines have fewer toxins. Also, fish such as trout and salmon are fish that have an ability to naturally clean the toxins from their systems by swimming against the currents.
Experts state that by eating fish twice per week will lessen the chances of cancer development.
