We have discovered that entrepreneurs tend to neglect their health more than many other people.
Because they are often so caught up in business tasks and solving people’s problems that the last person they think of is the one looking back from the mirror… Themselves!
But what you entrepreneurs need to understand is, you will not be able to solve problems or manage your business if you have health complications.
So, it is time to consider your health and well being.
Here are 12 health tips for entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #1: Schedule A Daily Exercise Plan
Consider it the best daily meeting you can have. Mark it on your calendar!
Be it 30 minutes, 1 hour or more, have a set exercise plan every day of the year. It could be:
- basic calisthenics
You will be amazed how just a little exercise can give you the energy and stamina to handle anything that comes at you in your business.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #2: You ARE What You Eat
The foods you put in your body on a daily basis play an important role in your overall health. You want to have a nutritionally balanced daily diet.
If you can keep yourself on an organic whole food plan… Organic
- grass fed meat and poultry
- herbs and spices,
you will be happier and healthier.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #3: Take Vitamins And Minerals
In these days and times, many of the nutrients our bodies require have been depleted from the soil that feeds the crops that, in turn, feed our bodies.
It makes good sense to take nutritional supplements to offset the loss of those vitamins and minerals.
And another thing… Carbohydrates have been found to be one of the agents that have led to a world of obesity. Dr. Joseph Ahrens discovered another substance that many say should be considered a vitamin. And like other vitamins and minerals, it too has been depleted from many of the foods we buy.
Using a blended system, Dr. Ahrens developed Emulin, which manages those carbohydrates entering your body on a daily basis.
iGalen manufactures and sells Emulin using a network marketing system… Yes, entrepreneurs like you are able to help people get healthy while making an income doing so.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #4: Drink Plenty Of Water
The majority of entrepreneurs we know are addicted to coffee.
Coffee is a wonderful thing but it should not ever take the place of water. You see, our bodies have a high percentage of water in them and if this water runs low, our energy and well being also runs low too.
We suggest you always keep a bottle of water with you and when you feel thirsty, drink water.
Remember, just because a drink like coffee has water in it, it will never make up for the real thing, and I’m not talking about Coca-Cola.
Water – It’s the real, Real Thing!
Entrepreneur Health Tip #5: Do Not Compare Yourself To Other Entrepreneurs
“Our bodies are our gardens – our wills are our gardeners.” William Shakespeare
Good health requires a positive mindset. If you are in a state of comparing yourself to other entrepreneurs, odds are you are not living in positivity.
You must remember that everybody is unique. We were raised in different surroundings with different influences. We may have been brought up in different cultural, political and religious systems that give us the uniqueness we were destined with.
There is no issue with learning from or teaching other entrepreneurs but never fall into the trap of comparing you or your business with them.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #6: Keep Healthy Snacks With You
Are you moving a thousand miles per minute?
Most entrepreneurs are. And when hunger pangs set in while on the road, in the airport or on the go anywhere, the temptation to stop at a gas station, fast food joint or some other vendor of unhealthy snacks can be overwhelming.
Just like the water we told you to keep with you at all times, you should also keep healthy snacks to compensate your hunger in a healthy way.
Consider things like nuts, dried fruits or even regular fruits. Staying clear of those sugar filled and heavily processed quick foods will lead to better health.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #7: Walk It
Take advantages of the moments when you can choose to walk… Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Bypass the walking escalator at the airport. Why take the car when the store is only ½ mile away? And, do you really need to have a golf cart?
We were designed with feet and legs to use. When you have an opportunity to choose between walking or riding, choose to walk and you will be happier and healthier.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #8: A Daily Meditation Break
“Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind, and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open.” B.K.S. Iyengar
When we think of the leading cause of disease, sickness, and death, we must look at stress. And entrepreneurs have a lot of daily stress.
To overcome the rigors of daily stress, we recommend daily meditation.
Just simply schedule 15 to 20 minutes each day; find a “quiet zone,” and close your eyes, empty your mind and relax.
We suggest scheduling this meditation during an hour when your stress level is usually at its highest.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #9: Take Regular Vacations
A primary cause of “entrepreneur burnout” is due to working too much with no play. It is understandable that you want to build your business big and strong, but to do so, you need to take some breaks.
Here is the key to being able to take vacation breaks…
Make sure you have trusted people beside and under you who have the competency to “take the reigns” and manage the day-to-day tasks of your business while you are gone.
Many starts by taking a weekend vacation and return to see how well the business was managed. Once you have people who can keep it going and you have automated as much as possible, start taking regular vacations. Put the business stress in the closet while you are gone. Have fun with friends and family.
By doing so, it is like refueling your entrepreneurial engines and you will feel a renewed vigor.
It is amazing!
Entrepreneur Health Tip #10: Follow A Wake And Sleep Routine
“Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy wealthy and wise” Benjamin Franklin
Burning the candle at both ends leads to serious problems.
We have discovered that successful entrepreneurs generally follow a strict sleep pattern. I say generally because there are occasional times when it has to be broken.
But going to bed at a set hour and waking at a set hour (7 hours of sleep is optimal), is much healthier than having various times of doing both. And this goes for every day of the week, even when you are on vacation.
You will feel better and look healthier if you follow a sleeping and waking routine.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #11: Consider A Standing Desk
Much of the work entrepreneurs are tasked with is on the computer or doing paperwork.
Studies have found that people who sit at desks for long periods have more health issues than people who work standing up. Standing desks have been developed and you may want to consider investing in one.
Entrepreneur Health Tip #12: Get Social
When I say “get social,” I am not talking about Facebook, Snapchat or Instagram. It means getting out with friends and enjoying each others company.
Every person needs to have at least a little social interaction. Even attending events like trade shows and such counts as social encountering.
And The Most Important
Focus on only the positives.
Our world is full of negative influences on all sides, but if you choose to only focus on positive influences, you will see a huge difference in your health and well being.
Stay clear of negative influences… People, news, etc…I know that sometimes it is nearly impossible, but do not allow yourself to get caught into a negative landslide. Smile often and speak positives and you will feel healthy and vibrant.
